The first time they met, Ai ended up talking and becoming friends with Shirou. They went shopping for Halloween costumes together and talked a great deal. He told her that he was going to save her so that she wouldn't have to be the Hell Girl any more. She thought this was foolish but at the same time. No one had ever tried to help her before.

After a while though, and after going home for ten years or so, she came to accept her role as the Hell Girl and told him she didn't need to be saved from it. It was a fact, that she was going to have to accept.

He was droned and showed up as her brother, without any memories of her, for a short period of time. During that time he was as nice as he'd always been and Ai had been glad to see him again. When he was droned again, Ai was sad to see him go, but not as much as the first time.
